V3 Col 1 10

When we appreciate what God has done for us and understand what He has placed in us, we are empowered to walk worthy of Him. Scripture says that when we walk this worthy walk, it is not just pleasing to Him, but FULLY PLEASING. There are 2 key words offered in the description of that powerful walk that bring about His pleasure – ‘Being’ and ‘Increasing’.

God is pleased when we are “being fruitful” in every good work. Remember: God is more interested in our ‘Being’ than He is in our ‘Doing’. Our works are good not because of WHAT we do, but because of HOW we do them. He wants us in a state of ‘Fruit – Full – Ness’. The Fruit of The Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control. (Galatians 5:22-23) When our works are full of His fruit, we are being fruitful in every good work. It is this fruitfulness that results in true productivity; and when we prosper in being fruitful, we fully please Him.

God is pleased when we are “increasing in Him”. There is nothing more pleasurable to God than when we take the time and make the effort to increase in our knowledge of Him. As we learn more about Him, the greater He is revealed to us. As we discover more of Him, we unlock more truth – for He is truth. As we become more intimate with Him, we transition even more into His image and gain a clearer understanding of who we are. God is our Creator, our Sustainer and our Maintainer. We were designed by Him on purpose, with purpose, in His purpose, for His purpose. We cannot truly know ourselves without first seeking to know Him.

Fully pleasing God may seem quite daunting to totally impossible when we think of how almighty and awesome He is. But with God, the impossible becomes possible when we allow His Spirit in us to define our ‘good works’ and when we seek to know Him. Walk worthy, fully pleasing Him, by ‘Being’ and ‘Increasing’!
