“Serving as a worship leader means that in spite of the number of attacks, in spite of the level of the attacks, and in spite of the places of attack, the task of leading others to worship God is successfully completed. Only a worship leader who is a true worshiper can successfully maintain his station and complete his assignment. Once the battle lines are drawn, the strength needed to complete the assignment lies in the depths of his relationship with God.”
A personal relationship with God must be the top priority for every worship leader. God desires first and foremost for us to be in an intimate relationship with Him. Just as God breathed into Adam, He longs to breathe into us. Just as He fellowshipped daily with Adam, He longs to fellowship daily with us. The opportunity is always available to us. He’s extended the invitation. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20) He’s knocking. Now He’s waiting on us to respond to Him.
Spending quality time with God on a regular and consistent basis prepares us to effectively minister to the body of Christ in the office of the singing Levite. We can confidently lead others into the presence of God through song because we have led ourselves into His presence on a daily basis. A worship leader is first and foremost a worshiper who worships God in spirit and in truth.
A worshiper is a being created by God to worship Him. He is always stationed in God’s presence and is a worshiper at all times because it is his lifestyle. He recognizes that God is due glory and that he is an active part of the Levitical priesthood. He is submitted to God as a living sacrifice and successfully wears the complete armor of God daily. Ultimately, a worshiper is a being who delights in being in God’s presence and, by example, consistently leads others into that special place under the wing of The Almighty. Worship Leader: Assigned by God to assist in leading mankind into God’s presence!
