This year’s high school graduation celebration was an especially exciting and precious one for me because my daughter, Sinclair, who is Co-Valedictorian of West Charlotte High School in Charlotte, NC, walked across the stage on June 12th in recognition of her hard work and dedication to 13 years of study.  The harvest from this significant seed is great:  Sinclair has been awarded a full scholarship and will be heading to UNC-Chapel Hill in the Fall.  As I celebrate her accomplishments and appreciate her achievements, I am awed by the magnitude of this milestone.  She didn’t just go to school to attend classes; she mined the fields of a strenuous curriculum and walked away as a valuable product of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.  And she is not alone.

When the 2014-2015 school session concluded, there were 10 students across the school district that received full scholarships for undergraduate studies.  Multiple millions were awarded to Charlotte-Mecklenburg graduates of the Class of 2015 for secondary education.  Hats off to the students for their commitment, to the teachers for their devotion and to the support staff for their dedication – to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for positioning our youth for greatness!
